AI photo editor with no sign-up
Airpic is an AI photo editor with no sign-up: you upscale, restore or clean up an image without giving an email or a password. Here is why, what you gain, and how payment, re-downloads and the API work with nothing but a code.
What signing up for an AI photo editor really costs
Most AI photo editors ask you to sign up before you see a single result. The form looks harmless: an email address, a password, perhaps a tick box for the newsletter. But each of those fields has a cost, and you keep paying it long after you have finished with the tool.
Here is what you actually hand over when you create an account to upscale one photo:
- Your email address goes into another database. Every service that stores addresses is one more place that can be breached, sold or merged into a larger company with different rules. You have no say in what happens to it after you close the tab.
- One more password. Either you reuse an old one, which is exactly what attackers count on, or you add another entry to your password manager for a site you will visit twice a year.
- Marketing email. Sign-up is the start of a funnel: welcome series, discount reminders, "we miss you" messages. Unsubscribing takes a few clicks per service, and the clicks add up.
- A history of what you uploaded. An account turns isolated jobs into a profile. The family photo you restored, the product shots for your shop, the scan of a document: all of it sits under your name, often in a gallery you never asked for.
For a tool you use every day, that trade can make sense. You want your settings saved, your projects synced, your invoices in one place. For a tool you need when a print shop rejects your file or when you find a box of old photos in the loft, it does not. You are giving away a permanent record to solve a ten-minute problem.
That is the reasoning behind Airpic. Upscaling, restoring a face or compressing a photo for a website are occasional jobs for most people, and so is the day you need to remove the background from a photo for a listing. So the site is built as an image tool with no registration: it does the job and forgets you. No email, no password, no login screen. The rest of this article explains how that works in practice, including the parts that normally rely on an account, such as paying, downloading again and using the API.
How to upscale an image with no account
The flow is the same on all twelve tools, whether you are working with a photo or a video:
- Upload. Drag a file onto the page, choose it from your device or paste it with Ctrl+V. Image tools accept JPG, PNG (including transparency and 16-bit), WebP, TIFF, HEIC and AVIF. EXIF orientation is applied and the colour profile is kept.
- Process. Choose the settings and press the button. The file goes to a GPU in the European Union, is processed and comes back as a preview.
- Check the result. Processing and previewing are free. You can compare before and after with the slider, zoom in, change the settings and run it again as many times as you need before deciding whether the result is worth downloading.
- Download. Each month you get 1 free full download. That allowance is tied to your connection, not to an identity: there is no profile to keep it on, so the counter simply follows the network you are using.
The exception is when you compress images: processing and downloading are completely free and never touch the monthly allowance or your credits.
When you buy credits. If you need more than one download a month, you buy a pack and receive a credit code. That code is your balance. There is no account behind it: the code itself holds the credits, and the credits never expire. Three things happen after a purchase:
- The confirmation page shows the code once the payment goes through, so you can copy it there.
- Your browser remembers it automatically. The next time you download, the code is applied without you typing anything.
- If you were waiting on a download when you paid, the confirmation page offers to fetch that file straight away.
Downloading again. Once a job is paid for, downloading the same result a second time does not spend another credit, for as long as the file exists on the server (see the section on files below). You do not need a "my downloads" page for that: you go back to the tool and press Download again.
Using the API. Developers can call the same tools from their own code. Instead of an API key tied to an account, the request carries the credit code as a bearer token in the Authorization header. Buy a pack, put the code in your script, and every download charges that code. No dashboard, no OAuth, no user ID.
If you want the price per image for each pack, it is listed on every tool page, for example where you upscale an image, and the comparison with subscriptions is explained in Pay per image, not per month.
The catch with an image tool with no registration
Removing the account removes a lot of hassle, but it also removes a few safety nets. You should know about them before you buy anything.
There is no "forgot my password". Because Airpic has no email address for you, it has nothing to send a reset link to, and it does not email you the code. If you clear your browser data, switch to another device or use a private window, the browser will not remember the code. If you have not saved it anywhere else, the remaining credits are gone with it. In practice, this takes thirty seconds to prevent:
- Copy the code from the confirmation page into your password manager, as a secure note under "Airpic".
- Or paste it into a note on your phone, or print the confirmation page.
- If you work on two computers, paste the code once into the second browser; it will remember it from then on.
A code works like cash. It is a bearer code: whoever has it can spend it. Nobody checks who is typing it, because there is no "who" in the system. That is what makes the no-account model work, and it is also why you should treat the code like a gift card number. Do not post it in a public forum, a shared spreadsheet or a screenshot of your screen. If you hand it to a colleague so they can use part of your balance, they can use all of it.
The monthly free download follows your connection. If you share an office or home network with other people, one of them may have used the free download for this month before you. And if you move between Wi-Fi and mobile data, the counter moves with the network, not with you. It is a fair compromise for a free allowance with no sign-up, but it is not a personal entitlement.
No history. There is no gallery of past jobs to go back to next month. Once the file is deleted, it is deleted. If you will need a result later, download it and keep it on your own device.
For most people these drawbacks are smaller than the alternative. Saving one code is less work than managing one more account, and it does not leave a profile behind.
No email or password, and no trail of your files
Using an AI photo editor with no email or password changes more than the sign-up screen. An account is, among other things, a link between you and your files. Without one, there is nothing that ties an upload to a name, an email address or a customer record. The job is identified by a random ID that exists only for as long as the file does.
Here is the life of a file on Airpic, step by step:
- You upload it. It is stored temporarily so a GPU can read it.
- It is processed on a GPU in the European Union.
- The input is deleted once the job finishes; the result waits for you to download it.
- The result is deleted 1 hour after you download it. If you never download it, it is deleted after 1 day at most.
Your images are never used to train models. There is no opt-out setting to look for, because there is nothing to opt out of.
This matters more than it seems for the jobs people bring to an upscaler or a restorer. A scanned photo of your grandparents, a passport photo, a product before launch, a screenshot from a private chat: these are not files you want sitting in a gallery attached to your email. With no account, there is no gallery, and the deletion is not a promise about "your data" in the abstract but a fixed timer on each file.
Payments are the one point where personal data appears, and they are handled by the payment provider, which issues the VAT receipt. What Airpic keeps after the payment is the credit code and its balance, not a profile of what you processed with it.
If you want to see this in more detail, Why Airpic sets out how the service compares with chat assistants and editing subscriptions, including where your files end up in each case.
Step by step: upscale an image with no sign-up
Here is the whole process to upscale an image online, from a small photo to a full-resolution download, with no registration at any point.
- Open the tool. Go to the Image Upscaler. There is no sign-in button to look for; the upload area is the first thing on the page.
- Add your photo. Drop a JPG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, HEIC or AVIF file onto the page, pick it from your files, or paste it with Ctrl+V. On a phone, tap the button and choose a photo from your gallery.
- Choose the factor. Pick ×2 or ×4 for screens and normal prints. If you are preparing a poster or a large print, switch on the print mode: you can go further, up to 600 megapixels, and the tool tells you whether the result is enough for the size and viewing distance you have in mind. For portraits, tick the option to enhance faces. For drawings and flat illustrations, it is better to upscale anime and illustrations with the dedicated tool.
- Process and compare. Press the button and wait for the preview. The first job after a quiet period can take longer while a GPU starts. Use the slider to compare before and after, and the 100% view to check detail. If you are not happy, change the settings and run it again; processing costs nothing.
- Download for free. If you have not used this month's free download on your connection, press Download and you get the full-resolution file. Nothing is asked of you: no email, no confirmation link.
- If you need more, buy a pack. When the free download is used up, the page shows the packs. After paying, the confirmation page displays your credit code. Copy it to your password manager or a note before doing anything else.
- Where the code lives. Your browser stores the code and applies it to the next downloads. On another device, paste it once. The credits never expire, so a code bought for one job is still valid for the next box of photos, whenever that is.
If you are upscaling for print, the guide How to upscale an image for large-format printing explains how many pixels you need for each size. When you are ready, upscale an image with no sign-up and try it yourself: upload, process, compare and download, without creating an account.
FAQ
Can I upscale an image online with no sign up?
Yes. On Airpic you upload, process and preview without signing up, and you get one free full download a month. There is no email or password at any step.
What happens if I lose my Airpic credit code?
It cannot be recovered, because there is no account or email to send it to. Save it in a password manager or a note as soon as you buy it. Your browser also remembers it until you clear its data.
Can someone else use my credit code?
Yes. The code is a bearer code: whoever has it can spend the credits. Keep it private, like a gift card number, and do not share it in screenshots or public documents.
Does Airpic keep my photos if I don't sign up?
No. Files are deleted 1 hour after you download the result, or after 1 day at most if you don't, and they are never used to train AI models. Nothing links them to you.
